The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has today appointed VIraj Acharya as it's new Deputy Governor. He is going to replace Urjit Patel who was promoted to Governor earlier this year. He will be in this post for 3 years. He is taking over at a time when the central bank is facing criticism for repeated changes in the rules related to deposit and withdrawal of money, post-demonetisation.
