India, Japan Sign Landmark Nuclear Energy Deal
i. India on Friday signed a historic civilian nuclear deal with Japan during the annual bilateral summit held in Tokyo.
ii. India is the first non-member of the non-proliferation treaty (NPT) to have signed such a deal with Japan.
iii. The nuclear deal which will help India access Japan’s nuclear market, had been under negotiation for six years and was firmed up during the 2015 visit of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to India when the principles of the agreement were frozen.


World Pneumonia Day Observes today : 12th November
i. World Pneumonia Day is observed across the world on 12 November. The day is annually observed to raise awareness about pneumonia, the world’s leading killer of children under the age of five; promote interventions to protect against, prevent and treat pneumonia; and generate action to combat pneumonia. 
ii. This year theme is, "Keep the Promise, Stop Pneumonia Now".





11-year-old Pune girl wins ‘Doodle 4 Google’ 2016 contest
i. 1 year old Pune girl Anvita Prashant Telang has been named national winner of the “Doodle 4 Google” contest. The sixth standard student from Vibgyor High School in Balewadi area was chosen for her Doodle submission on the theme titled “If I could teach anyone anything, it would be”.
ii. The Doodle will be featured on the Google India homepage on November 14 to celebrate Children’s Day.
TAFE setting up Centre of Excellence in Rajasthan
i. TAFE, the world’s third largest tractor maker, in collaboration with the Rajasthan government, is setting up a Centre of Excellence — ‘JFarm Rajasthan’ — and a Custom Hiring Centre in six zones in Rajasthan at a total outlay of Rs.970 crore. 
ii. Mallika Srinivasan, Chairman & CEO, TAFE said: “This JFarm centre will showcase the latest and best in agronomy and farm practices, latest trends in production, protection and processing of crops, and also the world’s best in terms of showcasing farm mechanisation trends and their applicability to India.”
Virat Kohli dismissed hit-wicket in Rajkot
Image result for virat kohlii. Virat Kohli became the first Indian Test skipper to be out hit wicket since Lala Amarnath in 1949 after his foot disturbed the stumps in the ongoing Rajkot Test against England. 
ii. Batting on 40, Kohli went well inside the crease to pull a short ball from spinner Adil Rashid when he dislodged the bails with his foot and got out.



Leonard Cohen dies aged 82: tributes pour in to legendary singer-songwriter
i. Leonard Cohen, the baritone-voiced Canadian singer-songwriter who seamlessly blended spirituality and sexuality in songs like Hallelujah, Suzanne and Bird on a Wire, has died at age 82.
ii. Cohen, also renowned as a poet, novelist and aspiring Zen monk, blended folk music with a darker, sexual edge that won him fans around the world and among fellow musicians like Bob Dylan and R.E.M.


Indian Women's team wins Gold at the 7th World Carrom Championship
i.Indian women’s carrom team defeated Sri Lanka to win the gold at the seventh World carrom championship in Birmingham (UK) on Friday.
ii. India's S Apoorwa and Kajol Kumari also won gold in the women's doubles event.
iii. Meanwhile, the men's team lost to Sri Lanka to win the silver medal in the competition.
Chinese Minister elected Interpol President
i. China’s Vice-Minister for Public Security on Thursday was elected the President of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol). Meng Hongwei is the first Chinese official to take the post.
ii. Mr. Meng took over the position from his predecessor Mireille Ballestrazzi from France after being elected at the closing ceremony of Interpol’s 85th General Assembly held in Bali, Indonesia.
