Directions (6 – 10): Study the following information and answer the questions given below:
9 people A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H and J stay in a building, not necessarily in the same order. The building has 9 floors and only one person stays on one floor. All of them own one car each, and each car is of a different colour, i.e. blue, grey, white, black, yellow, green, red, orange and pink not necessarily in the same order. The ground floor is numbered 1, the floor above it, number 2 and so on and the top most floor is numbered 9.

The one who owns an orange coloured car stays on the fourth floor. E stays on the second floor and owns the white coloured car. The one who owns a pink coloured car stays on the third floor. A does not own a green coloured car. There are two floors between the floors on which the people owning the red and the black coloured cars stay. C owns a grey coloured car. There are three floors between the floors on which C and G stay. D stays on a floor immediately above J’s floor. There is one floor between the floors on which F and G stay. Solutions:
1. C)Let the salary of A be x
Therefore Salary of B = 687.5 × x/100 = 6.875x
And salary of C= 243.75 × x/100 = 2.4375x
Since (6.875 + 2.3475)x = 29800 => x = 29800/9.3125 = 3200
Therefore Salary of B is 6.875 × 3200 = 22000
2. B)Let the second amount deposited be x.
Therefore 40000 × 5/100 + (x × 10)/100 = (40000 + x) × 6/100 => 2000 + x/10 = 2400 + 3x/50 => x/10 – 3x/50 = 400 => 2x/50 = 400 => x = 10000
Therefore, total = 40000 + 10000 = 50000
3. C)8 men’s 1 day’s work = 1/30
11 women’s 1 day’s work = 1/45
Therefore (8 men + 11 women)’s 1 day work = 1/30 + 1/45 = 5/90 = 1/18
Therefore, (8 men + 11 women)’s can complete the work in 18 days
4. A)Let the number be 10x + y
=> 10x + y – 10y – x = 27 => x – y = 3 ---------> (1)
X = y + (y × 60)/100 => x = 8y/5
5x – 8y -------> (2)
Equ (1) × 5 – equ (2) => 3y = 15 => y = 5
Therefore x = 8 and the number = 85
5. C)Let the present age of A be x and that of B be y.
=> y = 180x/100 = 9x/5 => 9x = 5y ------> (i)
(x – 20)/(y – 20) = 1/5 => 5x – 100 = y – 20
From equ (i) and (ii) x = 25, y = 45
Therefore Difference = 45 – 25 = 20
