PM Narendra Modi announces India's first Railway University in Vadodara
I. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the integrated terminal building of Vadodara's Harni
Airport on 22nd October 2016. He is also scheduled to attend a programme to distribute artificial limbs and other implements to more than 8000 'Divyangs' (disabled persons) in the city.
II. The event has been jointly organised by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Kanpur-based Artificial Limb Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), and Vadodara district administration, stated a government release.
Aviation scheme UDAN(Ude Desh Ka Aam Naagrik) takes off
I. The Centre unveiled a regional connectivity scheme, known as UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik),
with flights priced at Rs.2,500 for one hour of flying time to and from regional airports.
II. Under the scheme, airlines will be offered a slew of sops at smaller airports such as waiver of landing and parking charges. 
FIFA unveils mascot for 2018 World Cup
I. Zabivaka the wolf followed in the footsteps of Naranjito the orange, Footix the football-playing
rooster and Fuleco the armadillo by being named as the official mascot of the 2018 World Cup.
II. The wolf, whose name according to FIFA means “the one who scores”, received 53 per cent of the more than one million votes cast in a poll, beating a tiger (27 percent) and a cat (20 percent).
Mahesh Sharma chairs first meeting of reconstituted CABC
I. Culture and Tourism Minister Mahesh Sharma has chaired the first meeting of the Reconstituted
Central Advisory Board on Culture (CABC).
II. The members of the CABC were requested to highlight priority areas in the fields of art, music, dance and literature. 
2,000 notes will be in circulation soon
I. Banknotes of the denomination of Rs.2,000 will be in circulation.The Reserve Bank of India has
very nearly completed preparations for introducing this new high-value currency.
II. The notes have already been printed and their despatch from the currency printing press in Mysuru has commenced.

TRAI suggests Rs 3,000-crore fine on incumbents
I. In a setback to incumbent mobile operators, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) has proposed a penalty of about Rs 3,050 crore on three telcos — Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and Idea
Cellular for failing to provide sufficient interconnect points to Reliance Jio which has led to massive call failures.
