President inaugurates Sardar Patel Heart Institute at Ankleshwar
Our Correspondent reports that earlier today the President inaugurated the renovated parts of historic Sevashram hospital at Bharuch. The President also unveiled the statues of Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel situated in the premises of the hospital. He also visited the historic room of this hospital where Mahatma Gandhi has stayed during the famous Dandi March.
Five crore LPG connections to BPL families in 3 years: Petroleum Minister
Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojna (PMUY) aims at providing five crore LPG connections to Below Poverty Line households in the country within three years. The Minister yesterday in Amethi said, the ambitious project, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Ballia on first of May this year, would transform the lives of women of BPL families by reducing the drudgery of cooking with polluting fuels and go a long way in reducing indoor pollution and other health hazards.PM launches #Sandesh2Soldiers campaign
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a campaign through which people can send their Diwali greetings and messages to the soldiers to boost their morale.The messages can be sent under the #Sandesh2Soldiers campaign on the Narendra Modi App, through MyGov.in, and also through All India Radio. PM Modi will be leading the campaign.
800 years old village electrified in J&K
In Jammu and Kashmir over 800 years old village Itchu in Ladakh region has been electrified for the first time using solar micro grids.The village is now powered by six DC Solar micro grids comprising three grids of 250 watts and three grids of 100 watts. The electrification of the village just like a well electrified twon is done with the help of of 156 LED lights powered by these grids, The total cost of the project is 12 lakh rupees including transportation and installations.
Gurugram traffic police to get body-worn cameras
In Haryana, traffic policemen in Gurugram would soon be equipped with body worn video cameras which would enhance road safety. The policemen would be imparted training for use of the camera and its software.Union Government holds tripartite talks with Manipur government, KNO, UPF
The Union Government held tripartite talks with Kuki National Organisation (KNO) and United People's Front (UPF) of Manipur to find an amicable solution to their long standing demand.
The second round of the tripartite talks was held on 19 October 2016 in New Delhi. During the dialogue the KNO and the UPF indicated their demands in the presence of senior representative of Manipur government. The first meeting was held in June 2016.
The talks were held in a cordial atmosphere and the next round of dialogue will be held in consultation with Manipur government, KNO and UPF.
To find a permanent solution to their demand for homeland and political future, the Home Ministry in June 2016 had decided to hold tripartite talks with government of Manipur, KNO and UPF of Manipur.
Rajasthan to launch India's 1st indigenous olive oil brand
Rajasthan is going to launch its own brand olive oil next month, which is claimed to be India's first indigenously-produced such brand. "The state will be launching its olive oil under the brand Raj Olive Oil," state Agriculture Minister said. After the launch, the state will work on avenues to market it and seek cooperation from experts to increase production.
Railways to introduce 9 more trains in UP by Nov-end
Indian Railways will introduce nine more trains in the poll-bound Uttar Pradesh by November-end this year. Railways has already introduced about 57 trains in the last two and half years in the state. “The new trains are pressed into service catering to the demand of the people and railways does not differentiate between states," an official said.
'Happiness junction' inaugurated at Bihar's railway station
A 'happiness junction' has been inaugurated at the Sonpur railway station in Bihar's Saran district, which will provide books and several entertainment tools for waiting passengers. The spot will also have a TV set and a kids zone with toys for children. As part of the initiative, affluent people can also donate goods which could be used by the needy.

India's Chandrayaan-1 helped NASA detect water on Moon
Using data from instruments aboard India's Chandrayaan-1 spacecraft, NASA scientists in 2009 found evidence of water locked in mineral grains on the moon surface. The findings represented the first detection of this form of water from lunar orbit. The researchers earlier used to believe that the moon rocks were completely dry and any water detected was considered contamination from Earth.
Air India makes world record for longest nonstop flight
Flying non-stop for 15,300 kilometres in 14.5 hours, the Air India has created the world record for longest nonstop flight. The flight was from Delhi to San Francisco. The Emirates was operating the world’s longest nonstop flight till now, from Dubai to Auckland covering almost 14,120 km.

ICICI, Axis, StanChart get back $2.5 bn of Essar loans
Within days of Essar Group signing a mega USD 12.9-billion asset sale in its oil business, three top lenders - ICICI Bank, Axis Bank and StanChart, have got back an estimated USD 2.5 billion as part of the first payment for their debt exposure to the Ruias-led conglomerate.The two Indian lenders which together had an exposure of USD 1.5 billion, will get back nearly half of their money or about USD 770 million in cash while further USD 750 million of debt will get transferred to Rosneft-led consortium and Essar’s ports and other businesses, as per the terms agreed upon by them.
SEBI relaxes restrictions on 40 entities
Market regulator SEBI has eased curbs on 40 entities against whom it had taken action in two different cases of alleged misuse of the stock market platform for tax evasion and suspected money-laundering. Following this, these entities can now deal in government securities and invest in exchange-traded funds. Besides, these firms can also subscribe to mutual funds.

Aditya Birla Group to invest Rs. 20,000 cr in Madhya Pradesh
Aditya Birla Group Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla today pledged an investment of Rs. 20,000 crore for the state in sectors like retail, telecom and cement.Addressing the Madhya Pradesh Global Investors Summit, Birla said the state is among the top markets for Idea Cellular, which has already invested nearly Rs. 7,000 crore over two decades.
Power Grid's board approves investments of Rs1k crore
Power Grid Corporation on Saturday said that its board has approved three proposals to invest Rs1,184.45 crore in power transmission projects across the country.
The proposals included augmenting the transformation capacity in the southern region, sub-station works in Vemagiri in Andhra Pradesh, and a transmission system for Ultra Mega Solar Park at Tumkur in Karnataka.

Committee Setup to H5 Avian Influenza Outbreak
Acting swiftly on the reports of mortality among the birds in National Zoological Park, Delhi NCR and other parts of the country due to H5 Avian Influenza Virus, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has constituted a monitoring committee for overseeing outbreak of H5 Avian Influenza in the country.
The composition of committee is as follows :-
1. Member Secretary Central Zoo Authority Chairman
2. Director National Zoological Park Member Convenor
3. Deputy Inspector General of Forest (WL) Member
The committee will oversee the daily incidences of H5 Avian Influenza in National Zoological Park and other Zoos of the country and submit a daily report to the Environment Minister. There has been no mortality among the free-ranging birds of the National Zoological Park. However, to control the disease following actions are being taken :-
1. Active surveillance continues in the zoo;
2. Zoo is being screened regularly for any dead bird;
3. Bio-security measures continue;
4. Zoo remains closed for the safety of visitors and to control the disease;
5. A team of doctors from Animal Husbandry Department visited Delhi Zoo for monitoring ;
6. A team of medical doctors visited and examined exposed employees of the zoo and medication was provided.
Kiran Shaw Conferred Highest French Honour
The highest French civil distinction, Chevalier de la L gion d Honneur (Knight of the Legion of Honour) was conferred on MD Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw. The award was conferred by French Ambassador Alexandre Ziegler on behalf of the President of the French Republic.
The honour comes in recognition of her outstanding contribution and dedication to the Biosciences and innovative research in this field. It is also for her achievements in biotechnology and commitment to providing affordable, quality healthcare globally.
Indian Army team awarded gold in UK patrol exercise
An 8-member team of Indian Army's 2nd Battalion of 8 Gorkha Rifles was awarded a gold medal at the Cambrian Patrol organised by the British Army. Participants in the Cambrian Patrol, one of the world's most gruelling military exercises, have to cover a 55-kilometre course in less than 48 hours. First-time entrant Kosovo was also awarded a gold medal.
INS Viraat, the world’s oldest aircraft carrier is being decommissioned by Indian Navy.
The ship was towed back by three tugs to Mumbai for the decommissioning ceremony. Viraat is expected to be decommissioned by end of this year, after 55 years of service, including 27 years with the Royal Navy (British Navy). The Navy has agreed to hand over INS Viraat to Andhra Pradesh government after its decommissioning. The AP government will use INS Viraat for promotion of tourism.SPORTS NEWS

North Korea won the 2016 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup on Friday, after defeating Japan on penalties in the final of the tournament.
North Korea, who were the champions of the tournament's maiden edition in 2008, became the first team to win the tournament twice. Spain's Lorena Navarro was awarded the Golden Shoe for scoring eight goals in the tournament
Goa given green light to host FIFA U-17 World Cup
Goa today joined Kochi and Navi Mumbai as one of the venues to host next year's FIFA Under-17 World Cup after it received the green signal from a high-level delegation of football's world body.
Following the visit, experts expressed satisfaction with the work put in at the venue and ratified Goa as the third venue to host the event after Kochi and Navi Mumbai
Pelé holds Guinness World Record for most career goals
Former Brazilian footballer Pelé holds the Guinness World Record for the most number of goals scored by an individual in a specified period. The forward scored 1,279 goals from 7 September 1956 to 1 October 1977 in 1,363 games. Pelé, who was amongst TIME's 100 most influential people of the 20th century, was born on 23 October 1940.
Mehar Mittal, legend of comedy in Punjabi movies, passes away
Veteran Punjabi actor Mehar Mittal, who acquired legendary status with his comic roles, passed away at a hospital in Mount Abu, Rajasthan, on Saturday after prolonged illness. He was to turn 81 on October 24. Mittal has been a well-known face in Punjabi movies for over four decades. He worked in more than 100 movies and ruled the small screen too.
First woman to climb Everest dies aged 77
The first woman to conquer Mount Everest, Junko Tabei, died of peritoneal cancer on Thursday in Japan, her family said. Tabei became the first woman to reach the summit of Mount Everest in 1975, and the first to complete the Seven Summits, ascending the seven continents' highest points. Her last challenge was made in July when she climbed Mount Fuji.
