Success Story: Akanksha, PO – State Bank of Mysore (SBM) 2015 & Gradeup mentor

Hello Everyone,

I am Akanksha Jigyasu, your new guide and friend at Gradeup. I joined Gradeup this week and will be helping you in your preparation and any doubts you have. I have worked with State Bank of Mysore briefly and I am sure that experience will be of help to you all.

Here is a little bit about my experience,

I completed my Engineering course from H.B.T.I. Kanpur in 2013. My first shot at success was when I was placed at IBM from campus recruitment. However, some personal reasons prevented me from joining the organisation. My request for rescheduling the joining date was considered by the organisation but it was delayed for a long duration. By that time, I shifted my focus from private to public sector and started exploring other options.

Banking sector is what I targeted and started preparing for the exams. I appeared for SBI PO exam in 2014 but couldn’t clear it since I wasn’t well prepared for it.

Theodore Roosevelt once said, “Believe you can and you are halfway there”.

So I wasn’t dissuaded by a failure and started preparing in a more disciplined manner. SBI associates exam was up next, I appeared for it and my hard work was finally paid off when final merit list was announced. I was selected for as a Probationary Officer in State Bank of Mysore (SBM) in 2015.

The journey to the final selection wasn’t smooth. The time span between SBI PO and SBI Associates PO exam wasn’t much so I didn’t have much time to ramp up my preparation.  To handle this problem, I started doing Continuous Self Evaluation by giving mock tests with strict timelines. This practice helped me in identifying my weaker areas. Quantitative Aptitude section always daunted me because I used to take a lot of time to solve it. Continuous self evaluation helped me reduce this time and also enhanced my stronger areas that helped me manage time in a lot better way.

So friends, don’t get bogged down by few failures because each failure takes you an inch closer to success. A very close friend once told me

“Failure doesn’t make or break you, it’s your attitude that decides, so never hesitate,

never feel low, wear a smile and steal the show.”

And now, I’m really looking forward to another happy chapter which is now about to begin at Gradeup. I feel elated to be working for such a platform that has been striving to help students build their career paths since its inception.
