IBPS RRB V Recruitment: FAQ

Dear Aspirants,

The notification for the recruitment of Officers & Office Assistants in Regional Rural Banks has been out now. From this year, IBPS has made some changes in the pattern of the exam. A new scheme of selection has been introduced from this recruitment onwards. Many candidates have queries regarding the eligibility and Exam Pattern. So here we are making an attempt to clear their doubts.

1. What is the new exam pattern introduced by IBPS from this year?

As you already know, earlier there was a single level examination for Officers & Office Assistant post in IBPS RRB Exam. But from this year onwards, IBPS has changed the exam pattern and introduced Two Tier Examination for Officer Scale I & Office Assistant post. The exam will be held in two phases i.e. – Prelims & Mains.

Note: There will be a single level examination for Officers Scale II and Officers Scale III.

2. Exam Pattern Related Query: For Officer Scale-I & Office Assistant, the final selection consists of 2 phases. Prelims Exam (Phase I) & Mains Exam (Phase II).

(i) Prelims Exam:  It is essential, for all the candidates to qualify both sectional & overall cutoff of the exam to get a call for Mains Exam. Marks obtained in the prelims exam will not be considered for final merit list in both Officer Scale I & Office Assistant Exam.

(ii) Mains Exam – Each candidate will be required to obtain a minimum score in each test of Online Main Examination and also a minimum total score to be considered for further process. Depending on a number of the State/ UT wise vacancies available, cut-offs will be decided and candidates will be considered for provisional allotment.

Note: 

(i) No interview process in Office Assistant post.

(ii) There is no Descriptive test in phase II of the IBPS RRBs V Exam.

(iii) For Office Assistant – Marks obtained in the Mains exam will be considered for final merit list.

(iv) For Officer Scale I – Marks obtained in the Mains exam will be considered for short listing for Interview & final merit listing.

(v) For Officer Scale II & III Marks obtained in the single level exam will be considered for short listing for Interview & final merit listing.

4. What are the eligibility criteria for the recruitment?

(i) Age Limit – Below is the age limit for the Officers & Office Assistant post –

For Officer Scale IAbove 18 years – Below 30 years i.e. candidates should not have been born earlier than 03.09.1986 and later than 31.08.1998 (both dates inclusive)

For Office Assistant (Multipurpose) – Between 18 years and 28 years i.e. candidates should have not been born earlier than 02.09.1988 and later than 01.09.1998 (both dates inclusive)

For Officer Scale- II- Above 21 years – Below 32 years i.e. candidates should not have been born earlier than 03.09.1984 and later than 31.08.1995 (both dates inclusive)

For Officer Scale- III- Above 21 years – Below 40 years i.e. candidates should not have been born earlier than 03.09.1976 and later than 31.08.1995 (both dates inclusive)

(ii) Educational Qualifications & Experience

For Office Assistant –

(i) Degree in any discipline from a recognized University or its equivalent

(ii) Proficiency in local language as prescribed by the participating RRB/s

(iii) Desirable: Knowledge of Computer skills.

(iv) Experience – No Experience required

For Officer Scale-I

(i) Degree in any discipline from a recognized University or its equivalent Preference will be given to the candidates having degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Engineering, Pisciculture, Agricultural Marketing and Cooperation, Information Technology, Management, Law, Economics and Accountancy;

(ii) Proficiency in local language as prescribed by the participating RRB/s*

(iii) Computer knowledge or awareness will be an added qualification.

(iv) No Experience required

 For Officer Scale-II –

(i) Degree in any discipline from a recognized University or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.

Note: Preference will be given to the candidates having a degree in Banking, Finance, Marketing, Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Engineering, Pisciculture, Agricultural Marketing and Cooperation, Information Technology, Management, Law, Economics, and Accountancy.

(ii) Experience – Two years as an officer in a Bank or Financial Institution.

Officer Scale-II (Specialist Officers)

IT Officer –

(i) Degree from a recognized University in Electronics / Communication / Computer Science / Information Technology or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.

(ii) Desirable: Certificate in ASP, PHP, C++, Java, VB, VC, OCP etc.

(iii) Experience – 1 year

Chartered Accountant

(i) Certified Associate (CA) from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India

(ii) Experience – 1 year

Law Officer

(i) Degree from a recognized University in Law or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.

(ii) Experience – Two years as an advocate or should have worked as Law Officer in Banks or Financial Institutions for a period, not less than two years.

Marketing Officer

(i) MBA in Marketing from a recognized university

(ii) Experience – 1 year

Agricultural Officer

(i) Degree in Agriculture/ Horticulture/ Dairy/ Animal Husbandry/ Forestry/ Veterinary Science/ Agricultural Engineering/ Pisciculture from a recognized university or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.

(ii) Experience – 2 years

Officer Scale-III –

(i) Degree in any discipline from a recognized University or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.

(ii) Preference will be given to the candidates having Degree/ Diploma in Banking, Finance, Marketing, Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Engineering, Pisciculture, Agricultural Marketing and Co-operation, Information Technology, Management, Law, Economics and Accountancy

(iii) Experience – Minimum 5 years of experience as an Officer in a Bank or Financial Institutions

Calculation of Percentage:

(i) The percentage marks shall be arrived at by dividing the total marks obtained by the candidate in all the subjects in all semester(s)/year(s) by aggregate maximum marks in all the subjects irrespective of honors / optional / additional optional subject, if any.

(ii) This will be applicable for those Universities also where Class / Grade is decided on basis of Honours marks only.

(iii) The fraction of percentage so arrived will be ignored i.e. 59.99% will be treated as less than 60% and 54.99% will be treated as less than 55%.

5. Doubt regarding Proficiency in local language –

(i) Since this recruitment is being conducted state wise. So a candidate must have the knowledge of the Local /Official language (reading, writing, speaking and understanding) of the state.

(ii) Candidates who have already studied the language of the State in standard VIII or any level above standard VIII in Government recognized Boards of Education/ School or having any certificate to the effect for standard VIII or any level above standard VIII would be considered proficient in that local language.

(iii) Where the candidate does not meet the mentioned requirement in the local language at the time of selection, he will be given a time of six months from the date of joining to acquire the proficiency. This period can be extended by the Boards of RRBs within the framework of the rules and provided that such extension should not be beyond the probation period.

Note: For Allahabad UP Gramin Bank – Hindi, Urdu & Sanskrit is mentioned under desired Local Language Proficiency of the bank. So, in this case, if a candidate should have knowledge of anyone of the language he/she is eligible for the same participating bank.

6. Computer Certificate related queries – It is not mandatory to have computer knowledge for IBPS RRBs V recruitment process. As it is clearly mentioned in the notification i.e. it is desirable to have the Knowledge of Computer skills but it is not mandatory.
