Solutions:
1. A)Let speed of boat in still water = x km/hr
So speed upstream = x – 4, and speed downstream = x+4
Now given: Time to travel 40 km downstream = time to travel 40 km upstream – 150/60
So 40/(x+4) = 40/(x – 4) – 5/2
8/(x – 4) – 8/(x+4) = 1/2
x+4 – (x – 4)/(x2 – 16) = 1/16
solve, x = 12
so downstream speed = 12+4 = 16 kmph
2. B)4x+8 = 3(x+8)
4x+8 = 3x+24
After 8 more years
M = 16+16 = 32
S = 4 × 16 + 16 = 64+16 = 80
80/32 = 2.5 times
3. A)(12000 × 3+9000 × 9):(10000 × 3+14000 × 9):(15000 × 6)
=>117000:156000:90000
=>117:156:90 => 39:52:30
B = 52 × 25000/121 = 10744
C = 30 × 25000/121 = 6198
Diff = 10744 – 6198 = 4546
4. A)Remaining work = 1 – 2/7 = 5/7
After 18 days, 5 women left and 2 men joined so 4 women joined (1m = 2w), now number of women is 5+4 = 9, so
10×18×6×(5/7) = 9×D2×6×(2/7)
Solve, D2 = 50
5. A)A, B, C do it in 20, 30, 40 min respectively Let total work be 120
Efficiency of A, B, C = 6, 4, 3 respectively
First 5 min work = 13 × 5 = 65
Remaining = 120-65 = 55
Next 6 min work = 7 × 6 = 42
Remaining = 13
Now, 120 work is done by leak in 60 minutes
Leak's efficiency = 120/60 = -2(as it empties the tank)
Leak +C = 3 – 2= 1
time taken = 13/1 = 13 minutes
Total time taken = 5+6+13 = 24 Minutes
(6 – 10):
Table Tennis
6. D) 7. C) 8. B) 9. D) 10. D) 11. D) 12.  B) 13. A) 14. D) 15. C)
