1. Mauricio Macri Blanco sworn in as President of Argentina
1. Mauricio Macri Blanco was  sworn in as the President of Argentina. He succeeded Cristina Elisabet Fernandez de Kirchner who was in the office for two terms between 2007 and 2015.
2. Mauricio Macri is the leader of the centre-right Cambiemos (Let's Change) coalition. He secured 51.5 percent of votes in the elections held in November 2015.
3. He defeated Centre-left Peronist candidate Daniel Scioli who secured 48.5 percent votes.
With this win of Macri, Argentina will see the centre-right leading the government after 12-years of leftist government.

2. Naseeruddin Shah honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award at Dubai International Film Festival
1. Veteran Indian actor Naseerudin Shah was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 12th edition of Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) in Dubai.
2. Besides, Egyptian actor Ezzat Al Alayli, award-winning French-Tunisian actor Sami Bouajila and French actress Catherine Deneuve were also honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the festival.

3. International Cricket Council announced OPPO as Global Partner
1. The International Cricket Council on 10 December 2015 announced new global partnership with OPPO, one of the world’s leading mobile telephone device companies.
ICC roped in OPPO on a four-year deal which runs from 2016 until 2020.
2. In October 2015, ICC had entered into an eight-year global partnership deal with Japanese car maker Nissan Motor Company.

4. Sharad Pawar’s autobiography On My Terms released
1.  On My Terms: From the Grassroots to the Corridors of Power, an autobiography of Sharad Pawar was released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi . 
2. The book was released on the 75th birthday of Pawar, the Maratha strongman and the leader of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

5. UN agencies launched $1.98 billion Sahel humanitarian appeal for 2016
1. The United Nations agencies and partners on 9 December 2015 launched the Sahel humanitarian appeal for 2016. The purpose of the initiative is to mobilise international support to tackle triple crisis of poverty, insecurity and climate change that plagues the Sahel region in Africa.
2. Highlights of Sahel humanitarian appeal for 2016
• It includes a regional plan that calls for 1.98 billion US dollars to provide vital assistance to millions of people in nine countries across the region.
• It will focus on tackling dire effects of climate change, abject poverty, fast population growth and a tormenting rise in violence and insecurity in Africa’s Sahel region.
• It will ensure millions are afforded the most basic assistance and protection they deserve to survive and live a dignified life in the region.

6. Pakistan successfully test-fires nuclear-capable Shaheen-III ballistic missile
1. Pakistan has successfully test-fired nuclear-capable Shaheen-III ballistic missile. The missile was test fired in the Arabian Sea and validated all the desired parameters including various design and technical parameters of the weapon system.
2. The Shaheen-III (in English means White Falcon-III) is a land-based surface-to-surface medium range ballistic missile. It is capable of carrying nuclear as well as conventional warheads up to 2,750 kilometres. It has been designed in response to India’s Agni-III missile.

7. Mexico Government approves world’s 1st Dengue fever vaccine named Dengvaxia
1. Mexico Government has approved world’s first-ever Dengue fever vaccine branded as Dengvaxia for the public use.
2. Dengvaxia has been manufactured by French pharmaceutical manufacturer Sanofi Pasteur. It has been designed to protect people in the 9-45 age groups from all four subtypes of the virus. 3. The vaccine was produced as the result of an extensive clinical development programme of the French company than ran for almost two decades. Sanofi Pasteur has requested authorisation to roll out the vaccine in 20 countries.

8. India and South Korea ink MoU on taxation treaty
1. India and South Korea have inked a new memorandum of understanding (MoU) on suspension of collection of taxes during pendency of mutual agreement procedure. 
2. This MoU will relieve the burden of double taxation for taxpayers in both the countries during the pendency of Mutual Agreement Procedure (MAP) proceedings. 
3. Besides, both countries also have agreed that transfer pricing dispute cases will be taken up for MAP under the revised Double Tax Avoidance Agreement (DTAA) between India and Korea.

9. P.K. Singh takes charge as SAIL Chairman
1. Prakash Kumar Singh has taken charge as Chairman, Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL), the public sector undertaking .
2.  Prior to this, 57-year-old Singh was the CEO of SAIL’s Durgapur Steel Plant. In July 2015, he was also given the additional charge of CEO, IISCO Steel Plant. An alumnus of IIT, Roorkee in Metallurgical Engineering, he started his career in Bokaro Steel Plant in 1980.

10. India, Japan sign pact for amending DTAA
1. Ahead of Japanese Premier Shinzo Abe’s visit, India and Japan on Friday inked a pact for amending the double taxation avoidance agreement and for preventing fiscal evasion that was originally signed in 1989.
2. The protocol provides for internationally accepted standards for effective exchange of information on tax matters, including bank information and information without domestic tax interest
3. The pact would also allow the two countries to assist each other in collection of revenue claims. Further, it provides exemption of interest income from debt claims insured by the Government from taxation in the source country.

11. Israel successfully tests Arrow ballistic missile interceptor
1. Israel has successfully tested Arrow ballistic missile Weapon System as part of its defence upgradation measures in the face of regional threats. The missile system has been jointly developed by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and the US aviation giant Boeing.
2. Arrow 3 is the top-tier system in Israel’s missile shield arsenal. It is more powerful compared to country’s lowest-tier defence is the short-range Iron Dome interceptor. It provides exo-atmospheric interception of ballistic missiles i.e. designed to shoot down missiles above the atmosphere.
