- First 'National Handloom Day' to be observed tomorrow.

- This day is going to be launched at a national level meeting that is scheduled to be held tomorrow in Chennai by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
- Note : The Govt of India has declared August 7th as the National Handloom day every year in memory of Swadeshi Movement which was started in 1905 on August 7th by Mahatma Gandhi for the revival of domestic products and processes.

- The union cabinet today approved a proposal to sign an agreement with UNESCO for the establishment of a Centre for World Natural Heritage Management and Training for Asia-Pacific region at the Wildlife Institute of India (WII) in Dehradun.

- This Centre will provide capacity building support to countries in the region for upkeep of heritage and natural sites.
- Note : This is the first time that an existing institute will be accorded recognition by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco).
