Mystery Solved: Bollywood Is Making Our Politicians Say Outrageous Things

April 8, 2015

Even in America, I watch Indian news all day long. I have to admit that I am often perplexed by the antics of the politicians of the ruling party. But I am not stupid and I see a definite pattern.

"Remember Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti's Ramzade/Haramzade remark? When I saw it on the news, I thought they were showing a preview of an upcoming film."

Recently, Union Minister Giriraj Singh made a racist and sexiest remark about Sonia Gandhi.

He asked: "Had Rajiv Gandhi married a Nigerian woman rather than a white skinned one, would the Congress have then accepted (Sonia's) leadership?"

With that he won initiation into a now infamous group of politicians who are in a league of their own.

They are the crude, the crass and completely offensive group and everyone is fair game. In the past few months, these politicians have made racist, sexiest, inappropriate remarks about women, religion and minority groups.

This new game of "show and tell" has the world scratching their collective heads and asking aloud in editorials, why doesn't Prime Minister Narendra Modi say something? Why is he letting his "people" do this?

I just figured it out. This is a conspiracy by Bollywood. Frustrated filmmakers fed up of their films being banned, censored and cut decided to fight back. They can't show stuff which may be offensive, vulgar or shocking. They are boycotted, abused, slammed on Twitter and sued in court. FIRs are routinely handed out like mithai.

"And Bollywood is somehow "bribing" these politicians to say these blatantly offensive remarks to build the public's immunity."

They decided to combat the problem. So they had this meeting and came with this idea: How do we remove the shock value from our films? What if the people are routinely exposed to how the Indian mindset really is? What if we had our scriptwriters prepare dialogues for our leaders to say? This will force the censor board to clear all our films. If it's happening every day in our country, they will reason...

And Bollywood is somehow "bribing" these politicians to say these blatantly offensive remarks to build the public's immunity. I have seen enough films to know that these gifts could be free trips, Louis Vuitton luggage, deposits to their Swiss accounts or special favours.

You have doubts, you say? Why? Remember Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti's Ramzade/Haramzade remark? When I saw it on the news, I thought they were showing a preview of an upcoming film. Didn't it sound like something out of a B-grade Bollywood movie?

How about Mohan Bhagwat's assessment of Mother Teresa? His claim that her work with the poor was only so that she could convert them to Christianity? It was so clichéd it could have come from a movie.

If you don't agree with my theory, give me an explanation. Or just say jai, jai to our "respected" netas. After all, we did choose them, didn't we?
