The trailer for Shoojit Sircar's upcoming movie 'Piku', starring Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Irrfan Khan, hints at a significant portion of it being a road movie.
Several scenes from the trailer show Padukone driving her cantankerous old father (played by Bachchan) as well as her love interest (played by Khan) on a highway, even as they bicker amongst themselves. At no point does it seem that Padukone is uncomfortable driving.
However, if a press release sent by the film's makers is to be believed, that was the actress's first time driving on a highway. The release quotes her as saying, "For the first time in my life I drove on a highway while shooting for 'Piku'. In fact, on one of the last days of the shoot, I drove my team back from the location on the highway to our hotel."
The actress went on to say that she had a "great experience" and has now started driving more often in Mumbai too.
Fair enough, Deepika. Go right ahead, as long as you promise not to drive like Salm—sorry, Salman Khan's driver.
