Bodies Of Couple Found In Suspected 'Honor Killing' In Haryana

April 6, 2015

In a suspected case of "honour killing," the bodies of a young couple were found in two trunks near a park in the Sonipat district of Haryana.

While the police launched its investigation on Monday, some gruesome details have emerged.

The bodies show signs of strangling, NDTV reported, and the woman was wearing bangles traditionally worn by newlyweds.

The bodies had no clothes on them and the legs of the boy are missing, India Today reported.

Jats in Haryana prohibit marriage within the same "gotra" or clan.

In September 2013, a couple from the Barak gotra in Gharnavati village was murdered after they ran away to get married. The boy was beheaded and the girl was lynched by her own parents in a horrific "honour killing."
